NR/L3/CIV/023 Assessment of Footbridges

This document provides requirements and advice for the assessment of footbridges. It complements NR/L2/CIV/035. It forms part of the control barrier ‘Carry out Structural Assessment and implement actions’ to prevent the risk of functional failure of the structure.

The scope of this document applies to footbridges, including at stations and other
locations. It includes requirements and guidance for:
a) Prioritising assessments;
b) Determining the scope of assessments (including situations where qualitative
assessment applies);
c) Inspections for assessment;
d) Quantitative assessments;
e) Interventions following assessment.
